Copy of the instructions:

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of operations WOW “Onyxia’s Lair” in the 3.2.2 upgrade to 80 copies. Players in the 60′s and happened many times now fighting the Black Dragon Princess Onyxia adventurers once again waiting for their return. This copy is divided into 10 and 25 model year 60 are now upgraded equipment falling into the equivalent of 80 items, but lucky players will also get to Onyxia itself a model of 310 speed flying mount – Onyxia dragon.

With 60 different time:

Onyxia no longer lose hate, flame no longer immune. Take a deep breath to extend the cast time. Onyxia lair guards call in the second stage. Melee attack in the second phase can not Onyxia. Lava eruptions generated during the low roar of fear, but no longer followed.

Dragon’s tail sweep attack on the enemy behind the caster causing 8,325 – 9,675 (25 people: 12,025 – 13,975) physical damage, ignoring armor, defeat large-scale (often players swept into the dragon eggs District).

The second stage: the air (65% -40%)

Skills: Description:
Fireball 2 seconds cast, randomly assigned target, on target and 10 yards in the region caused by the enemies of 4,713 – 5,287 (25 people: 7,069 – 7,931) of damage.
Breath “Onyxia deep breath … …” on the front of the cone in the region caused by the enemies of every 0.25 seconds 6,375 – 8,625 points fire damage for 6 seconds. Amount of damage depends on the proximity of the center cone.

Young dragon called Onyxia: Onyxia will be the beginning of the second phase of young dragon Onyxia call 40, each have about 60,000 health. And will continue to call every 90 seconds 40. Young dragon will only melee attacks on occupation could result in damage of about 500 points.

Call lair guards: In the second phase, Onyxia will call every 30 seconds out of 2 Onyxia lair guards, each with approximately 190,000 health. They will use the smooth split cut, the impact of star (AOE fire skills, goals and targets around 10 yards inside the enemy killing about 25,000 fire damage), light weapons (Ignite Weapon, on the goals and objectives around five yards radius of an enemy than melee attack damage, the resulting additional 25,000 points fire damage), are destructive amazing melee skills.

The third phase: the ground (40% -0%)

40% after Onyxia landing ground, into the third stage. Similar to the first stage. However, two more skills.

Skills: Description:
2 seconds casting operation rate of fire, before a 45 yard radius of the conical area of the enemy, causing 18,850 – 21,150 (25 people: 28,275 – 31,725) of fire damage.
Hack cut along its side on the target and causing general harm to the nearest enemy, affecting up to 10 targets. Regular use.
Flying wing combat radius of 20 yards in front of a tapered region causing 21,678 enemy – 24,322 (25 persons: 28,275 – 31,725) physical damage, and they repel. Ignore armor.
Dragon’s tail sweep attack on the enemy behind the caster causing 8,325 – 9,675 (25 people: 12,025 – 13,975) physical damage, ignoring armor, defeat large-scale (often players swept into the dragon eggs District).
Effective range of 100 yards deep growl terrorist group, 1.5 sec cast for 3 seconds. Used in the third stage, and at this stage from time to time use.
During the outbreak of the low roar, the ground cracks in the lava ejected, causing the player being hit 5,184 – 5,816 (25 people: 7,069 – 7,931) of fire damage.

Young dragon: the third phase of young dragon Onyxia call out the number of greatly reduced.

Raiders:

Onyxia upgrade version of the past 60 difference is not great. Combat is still divided into three phases: the ground – air – ground again.

In the first stage, Onyxia will use her skills, it is not flying wing combat cause physical harm reduction and high-repulsed Tank. Will Onyxia pull the wall, so as not to cause accidents on the DPS hit the dragon’s tail sweep or a smooth split cut. Tank should be the only stand in front of her, to minimize the splitting along the flame Breath and cut injuries. Distance DPS and treatment should be far behind her two-way. Melee DPS needs a good grasp of stations, too split along front will be cut to kill, so by then might be swept into the dragon eggs dragon’s tail area and destroy mission.

Onyxia in 65% of the time off to enter the second stage.

This phase need to address two issues: young dragon and nest guard. Young dragon hatch from nests on both sides of a large number (20 per side). The first wave will be produced soon after the second stage, then every 90 seconds refresh wave. Grouping them pulled out, A out as soon as possible, because they are too many, Tank difficult to support a large number of attacks for a long time. Guard at the entrance of the nest a higher refresh rate, but the DPS work arrangements if they are more easily killed. Need to get rid of them quickly, because their skills will Tank posing a great threat, even if the Tank is equipped with the same good. Tank T-guard should be special arrangements for treatment. The impact of star guard hurt very high, but it has a cast time, if they can easily grasp the effect radius, then hide. Distance DPS as much as possible to the Onyxia set fire to 40% of the time in the third phase.

And because the existence of deep breathing, the second phase is also a very difficult process. Fireball is not too much threat, but take a deep breath enough to cause a disaster (I believe the players played 60 Black Dragon has deep experience). Take a deep breath when you see the warning, it is necessary to immediately determine the Onyxia’s direction and efforts on both sides of the wall ran. Even if no time to run in the past, at least as far as possible to avoid those on both sides, not in the central deep breath.

The third phase of the fundamental and the first phase of Onyxia similar, but more fear and lava erupted group skills. Now she does not lose hate, so for the first phase of the Tank still held her. Onyxia cast immediately after landing a group of fear, Tremor Totem and Fear skills at this stage solution is very useful because Onyxia’s powerful attacks and terrorist groups, lava broke out together, can also cause considerable high damage.

Leveling in the pre-Cataclysm era

Make hay while the sun shines. In fact, if you’re leveling a character pre-Cataclysm, you might want to consider making that hay on one of the farms in Westfall. Westfall is slated for a “moderate” overhaul in the upcoming expansion, so the Harvest Reapers you see today might be something entirely different come Cataclysm. Maybe the farms will be gone entirely. Who knows? Whatever ends up coming our way, it’s time to stop and smell the flowers (or in this case, the sweet scent of hay). Whether or not you choose to purchase Cataclysm, zones like Westfall will be forever changed when the expansion hits.

My significant DPSer and I are currently leveling a set of Alliance characters (our original faction, but one we haven’t played much in several years) specifically in order to revisit content that Cataclysm will sweep away. We’re not the only ones with that idea. Still, it’s not all nostalgia. The desire to soak up all that WoW has to offer rings just as true for new players who are leveling their first characters. We’ll show you how to embrace it all while you still can.

Our suggestions for new players who’d like to experience as much of WoW’s original content as possible before Cataclysm changes the face of Azeroth:

Quest in zones that Cataclysm will be changing.
Deploy some alts. If you’re pushing forward toward Icecrown Citadel, we understand. It’s pretty cool stuff. But if soaking up lore and exploring new territories is more your style, now’s a good time to slow down and make enough alts (both factions!) to see all the sights before they’re gone. Leveling goes so fast these days that you’ll level past many zones and instances while you’re busy in other areas. It might take several characters (or a willingness to work through grey quests) to see everything that will be changing.
Get a handle on the game’s lore. The World of Warcraft is a living, breathing world. If you understand what’s already gone on, you’ll be in a much better position to keep up with the context of changes Cataclysm will bring.
Retro raiding (going back to see old level 60 and level 70 raiding content once you’re level 80) and classic raiding (raiding the level 60 and 70 content when you’re at the appropriate level) are both great ways to see what used to be considered endgame content. Looking for a group? Send The Classifieds your Armory link and a line or two about what you’re looking for; email TheClassifieds@wow.com. We’ll take retro raiding and classic raiding guild recruitment notices this week, as well.
The gang playing along with WoW.com’s Choose My Adventure series is specifically targeting content that will be changing come Cataclysm. The project’s moving along on US Zangarmarsh-H as part of .

The Tea Party and the Looming Financial Cataclysm

THE DREAM OF A MAGICAL FIX

The Tea Party gets a lot of media attention these days. Two Republican Party primaries on June 8 got coverage because of victories by Tea Party candidates: South Carolina and Nevada.

This coverage cheers me. My first recorded vote was for Barry Goldwater in 1964. I read John T. Flynn’s book, The Roosevelt Myth, at age 16 in 1958. I know about deficit spending. I know this: it is popular politically. Why? Because it is a way to defer spending cuts. The voters really do believe that something will turn up, so that they will not have to pay off the Federal debt. They don’t know what, but something. So does Congress.

To make tax cuts for higher income voters without making unpopular spending cuts is the dream of Republican politicians. To make tax cuts for the middle class – the working poor pay only Social Security’s FICA tax – without making unpopular spending cuts is the dream of Democrat politicians.

In the Reagan era, the President tried to achieve this by promising rising revenues as a result of reductions in the income tax rates in all brackets. Unfortunately, he neglected to veto any major spending bills that were placed on his desk by Congress. The economy also got hit by a major recession in 1981–82 as a result of a slowdown in Federal Reserve inflation. In 1983, the Federal deficit went above $200 billion.

Also in 1983, Social Security technically went bankrupt. The President assembled the Greenspan Commission, which recommended FICA tax hikes. The President signed a law implementing the Commission’s recommendations. In 1986, the President signed another tax increase, called TEFRA. The deficit increased anyway.

What Reagan faced was piddling compared to what Obama faces. The Federal deficit is obviously out of control. This means that Federal spending is out of control. Do we have legitimate hope that spending will be brought under control in time to avoid a crisis in the capital markets?

No.

I see how far down the road that the West has traveled when it comes to debt: government debt, corporate debt, and household debt. I look at the zones of modern life that have become dependent on ever-larger quantities of government debt. Then I look at which programs Tea Party politicians say they will vote to cut. Well, “look at” is not quite correct. “Look for” is more like it.

NON-SHOPPING LISTS

Let’s see their non-shopping lists. Let’s see what cuts the Tea Party candidates will recommend. Put differently, let’s see which entrenched constituencies for government subsidies they are willing to write off. Let’s see which cuts will be so substantial – enough to balance the Federal budget, let alone run a surplus – that their very advocacy in public will bring out voters to support the candidates the Democrats run.

The Democrats are not political fools. They know how their bread is buttered . . . and where. So do the Establishment Republicans. All that the Democrats’ candidates need to say is this: “Where do you intend to cut Federal spending? Be specific. Publish this as a campaign document. How do you intend to reduce the deficit?”

The Tea Party candidate is the equivalent of the dude who is dressed in his best East Coast wardrobe, who steps out of an Arizona stagecoach in a 1948 Western. The guys sitting around the saloon spot their mark. “Let’s have a little fun with the dude!” They pull out their six-guns. They start shooting at the dude’s feet. “Dance, dude!” The dude dances, unless he’s Gregory Peck.

We are going to find out this fall how many Tea Party candidates there are whose role model is Gregory Peck. Unlike the 1948 Western, we will get to see if Mr. Peck is gunned down 20 minutes into the movie, with the rest of the film devoted to the final takeover of the county by Charles Bickford.

OVER THE CLIFF

Three things are driving the West’s economy toward a cliff: government debt, bank leverage, and fiat money.

The increase in national government debt since early 2008 is unprecedented. This is because, in a recession, politicians vote for bailouts, which increase the government’s deficit. Meanwhile, central banks buy assets of any kind in order to flood the economy with newly created fiat money, thereby saving the banking system.

This two-fold policy response – deficits and fiat money – is promoted by all schools of economics except Austrianism. The school of economics that is most prominent today, and which gets good media publicity for promoting the two-fold policy response, is Keynesianism. Members of the other schools of thought meekly ratify what the Keynesians promote openly, mumbling that “there is no other choice in this crisis.” The Austrians protest, but until 2008, hardly anyone paid any attention to them or their protest.

Keynesianism’s solution to recessions is always the same: to have the national government borrow money that would have been lent to the private sector. The theory is that when governments spend borrowed money, this increases economic growth, because the government spends the money rather than private producers and borrowers.

The Keynesian system rests on two unstated assumptions, which are illogical and therefore never stated plainly for the public to see.

Government spending of borrowed money that supports unemployed workers or funds corporate bailouts is economically productive and will restore economic growth and end the recession.
Private sector spending of borrowed money enables consumers to buy what they want and also enables businesses to purchase capital goods, labor, and raw materials in order to produce consumer goods and services. This is economically wasteful and extends the recession.
When I state it this way, a normal person thinks: “This makes no sense. Why should government borrowing to pay people not to work and also to pay for government bailouts be productive, while allowing consumers and producers to choose their own level of debt is destructive?” So, non-Austrian School economists never go into print with the two assumptions. As well-paid designers of fine new wardrobes for emperors, they prefer not to let voters inside the weaving room.

The Austrians’ policy recommendations are part of a four-point program. First, governments should cut spending enough to produce a fiscal surplus, despite major tax cuts. Second, governments should cease borrowing. Third, the central bank should cease buying assets.

The Austrian camp is divided on point four: whether the budget surplus should be used to pay down the national debt, or whether the money should be returned to taxpayers, accompanied by an outright default on the national debt.

How popular with politicians is this agenda? It isn’t. How popular is it with voters? Not very, especially when a crisis in the stock market is taking place, and over-indebted banks and corporations are going bankrupt.

No politician has ever run on this platform: “Abolish the FDIC!” The FDIC guarantees the bailout of depositors, up to $250,000 per bank. It also guarantees that the money supply will never shrink because of failing banks, the way it did in the United States, 1930–33, when about 9,000 banks went bust – but no large bank. Large banks had the support of the Federal Reserve System. Voters love the FDIC. There are well-organized permanent political constituencies for the latest designs of clothing for emperors. There are hundreds of millions of believers in the wisdom of emperors. This is why non-Austrian School economists always have good jobs.

This is also why Austrian School economists are relegated to the fringes: websites and podcasts. They are ignored by newspapers and network TV. They are especially kept out of university economics departments. Nobody in academia wants to let an Austrian School economist get close to impressionable children, who have perceptive eyes and who might call out something embarrassing from the sidelines in the middle of the big parade.

RUNNING OUT OF TIME

The idea that the debt markets are running out of time is now gaining attention. This is the first time in my lifetime that this idea has penetrated the consciousness of the general public.

It is still being denied by the chattering class. Non-Austrian School pundits are still fervently repeating the Party Line, to wit:

The debt of the United States government is essentially risk-less. A 90-day U.S. Treasury bill is the closest thing in history to a risk-free investment. This debt is AAA-rated, and should be.

There is no possibility that Asian central banks will ever cease buying U.S. Treasury debt, let alone sell their existing portfolios. Asian manufacturers cannot possibly do without American consumers. This is why Asian central banks buy U.S. Treasury debt by inflating their own domestic currencies: to hold down interest rates in the United States, thereby enabling American consumers to borrow money to buy Asian goods, rather than letting Asians buy these goods. American consumers are vital to Asia. Asian consumers are not. Thus it has always been. Thus it will always be.

With the Greek government’s announcement on April 23 of the threat of non-payment of its debt, the Party Line has met a growing skepticism. It is possible for a Western government to default. The non-response of the Northern European politicians for two weeks was followed by a frantic weekend announcement of a bailout worth $900 billion. This was not the response of politicians who are in control. It was a Hank Paulson “the sky is falling” performance.

The acronym of the busted budget nations – PIIGS – was surely one of the more delightful aspects of these recent events. The PIIGS’s politicians and bankers resent this, but they cannot do anything about it. The mental image of pigs with their snouts in a trough is made to order for skeptics of the Party Line.

Serious analysts are beginning to waffle on the Party Line. There is no full-scale revolt within what we can accurately identify as the Davos-Bilderberg axis, but there are people who serve as advisors to people inside this axis who are raising doubts in public. The most notable is the Harvard University/Harvard Business School professor of financial history, Niall Ferguson. His May 13 lecture to the Peterson Institute for International Economics, “Fiscal Crises and Imperial Collapses,” is by far the most persuasive of recent efforts.

What Cataclysm might mean for Death Knights

New Races

The new races definitely have some pretty awesome racials. The Worgen’s plus damage racial will make them a very solid choice for a DPS Death Knight, and the sprint will be excellent for closing distance in PvP, especially when paired with Lichborne or Icebound Fortitude to avoid CC. Even the skinning racial will be nice for a leveling Death Knight who decides to take some time out to level the money making gathering tradeskills.

Goblins are definitely going to be a nice little convenient race, with low buy and sell prices and a free bit of banking. Combat-wise, the Rocket Boots should be nice for closing distances or running away.

As far as whether these races will end up being the “best” races for Death Knights, I don’t think I can say. Part of this is because I think the idea of a “best race” is, to at least some degree, rather subjective, but also, the devs strongly hinted they’ll take a look at everyone’s racial abilities as they move into Cataclysm, so its certainly possible that other races will get some new or upgraded racials that will keep pace with the awesomeness that are the new races’ racials.

Stat Changes and New Systems

We’ll be seeing quite a few stats either disappear off gear or vastly change in their mechanics come the expansion. While some of the stats changes, like loss of Spell Power, won’t really affect us, others promise to bring up new questions and answers for our gearing and combat conundrums. Let’s look at those one by one.

Armor Penetration

As you likely know if you’ve been following the column, my favorite DPS spec is Unholy. Unholy DPS has been having some troubles lately, specifically with Armor Penetration. Armor Penetration is now so ubiquitous on gear that our signature strike, Scourge Strike, can easily be outpaced by Obliterate with a minimum of Armor Penetration gear at level 80. Luckily, it looks like this will be a thing of the past in Cataclysm, as Armor Penetration will be gone from gear.

With this change, it seems likely they’ll simply provide Armor Penetration to Blood through the new Mastery system (and possibly to Frost as well, if only for the Obliterate heavy rotations), while hopefully Unholy will get things slightly more useful to us. If they balance it out right, we should definitely be able to pick up Scourge Strike again full time in Cataclysm.

Of course this does bring up the question of Patch 3.3. Will we see Scourge Strike back on the scene before then? The devs have posted that they want Scourge Strike to be the king of Unholy DPS rotations again, but they don’t yet have an elegant way to make that happen. It could be they’ll hold off until Cataclysm, and we’ll be obliterating our way through the raids and 5 man dungeons of Icecrown Citadel, but frankly, I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that.

Regardless, this whole discussion underlines one fact: The devs definitely made the right choice in taking Armor Penetration off gear, where it can no longer trip up those classes and specs who do not need it.

Attack Power

Strength has pretty much always been superior for us for both DPS and Tanks, so the fact that we won’t have to settle for attack power is definitely welcome. There’s not much of a downside to this one, as long as there’s enough good plate DPS gear and strength jewelry to go around.

Haste

In Cataclysm, Haste will, in addition to its current uses, cause resources to regenerate or generate faster. In our case, it will be runes. Faster regenerating runes, in theory, equals quicker damage, although it will have to be quick enough to keep up with the global cooldown, of course. If it is, a faster rotation is only a good thing. If not, we just have runes that regenerate faster then sit there as we wait for cooldowns. This is probably a case where we need to see exact values before we can judge how good it is for the class overall, but it certainly has potential, possibly paired with a switch to Unholy Presence.

Defense and Stamina

Defense is completely gone from gear, meaning that every tank class or tree will be getting a talent similar to the Druid’s Survival of the Fittest to gain immunity to critical strikes. This isn’t so bad a deal now that you can dual spec DPS and Tanking, and therefore offtanks can still be effective tanks and effective DPSers both as needed, but there’s still some questions to clear up. Matthew Rossi covered quite a few of those questions in an article on the future of tanking, but I have a few more things to discuss from a Death Knight point of view.

Traditionally, we are able to tank in all 3 trees given that we choose the right talents. However, if we need to grab talented defense, how does that work? Unless they simply add it to the first level tanking talent of all three trees, we may find ourselves incredibly limited in our tank specs as we are forced to work down that specific tree. Of course, they could add it to Masteries, but that means that Death Knight PvE DPS may pick up a relatively useless mastery for them as they work down the tree.

In fact, that brings up a whole different point altogether: How will Death Knight Masteries work? Traditionally, we’re meant to be able to tank or DPS in all 3 trees. If Masteries in one tree are tank focused, everyone will flock there for tanking and flock away from it for DPS. That said, it may be that what will happen is that we’ll see more tank focused talents instead, which, when taken, will unlock tank focused masteries.

Still, let’s assume they have a decent idea for how they’ll implement tanking vs. DPS masteries and crit immunity that will work well enough to give us the same tank spec flexibility we have now. That still leaves us with the question of itemization.

It sounds like the developers mean to finish what they started with Burning Crusade and essentially make Stamina so ubiquitous that pretty much every character has tank-level HP. If so, at least that clears up one itemization issue. We’ll, in theory, have the Stamina to tank regardless. However, high stamina alone does not a complete tank make.

Bear Druids can attest to it. Sharing your itemization with DPS classes is not fun. You’re scrounging for hit and expertise, trying to find gear that still has a decent amount of stamina on it. And good luck finding dodge rating on pieces. They don’t exist. That’s my biggest fear: Will we run short on defensive stats as everything is itemized to be modular? It’s possible this could be sidestepped if Reforging allows conversions to dodge and parry rating, but it’d be way too easy to make reforging far too restrictive for that be effective. Masteries could possibly pick up some of the slack here, but again: With the way masteries are set up, how do we assure adequate tank masteries without rewiring Death Knights so that only one tree is the tank tree?

I’m not ready to completely condemn the idea, but I get the feeling itemization is going to be a sticky subject as Cataclysm begins. Here’s hoping the dev team can figure it out, but part of me thinks there may be a limit to how far you can take the “one size fits all specs” gear philosophy.

Then again, I’m still all for getting rid of some stats and firming up others. It really shouldn’t take a spreadsheet and a custom made calculator to figure out if an individual piece of gear is really an upgrade for you or not, to be honest.

And the Rest

Of course, this column is hardly going to be the final word on Death Knights in the Cataclysm. We’ll be discussing the Path of the Titans and which paths seem best for Death Knights, and talents are probably going to change so drastically as to completely alter how we look at certain talent builds and rotations.

The misgivings outlined above aside, I can say with confidence that I am incredibly pumped for the expansion, and very interested to see what direction the Death Knight class takes with all the redesigns and rebuilds of so many key systems in the expansion. Stay tuned to Lichborne and Wow.com. We’ll let you know how this keeps shaking down.

Cataclysm Is On the Way

Right now, we’re only a few months away from the biggest new expansion to hit World of Warcraft since it was released. Cataclysm is going to turn this entire game on its head.

Blizzard is talking about expanding the gold cap to accommodate the cost of the new items in the expansion. Are you serious? That gold cap is already over 214,000 gold!

And the big boys are saying we’ll need even more?!

Yeah, you’re going to need to get as much gold as possible and that’s where my guide comes in ‘ the secrets and strategies that you’ve been searching for since you first logged on to the

Internet and heard about World of Warcraft almost 6 years ago.

These strategies are designed to keep working for months to come ‘ even when Cataclysm hits.

So, why would you go with the other, constantly out of date strategies when you could use my gold secrets to make a fortune before Cataclysm hits?

The Gold Making Secret

Find a simple system that you know will work for some gold, then systemize it and do it over and over again until you make a LOT of gold’

Guess what I did? I made a lot of gold and now I have the brought that income producing method to you ‘ here today. I’ve been passing these methods around a bit now and they’re turning out massive profits for friends that were just as bad off as me when this whole thing got started.

I wasn’t just getting lucky. I’d stumbled upon a secret that I could share with everyone. And I knew that there were people who needed this information, who are begging just like I was in the forums and in the trade channels.

I could give you this system right now, show you what to buy, what professions to have, and how to setup your auctions and you could make some cash almost instantly.

You’re probably wondering what’s going to happen when these secrets get unleashed on everyone at once ‘ won’t they stop working when everyone’s doing the same thing?

Nope’not even close.

I can practically guarantee you that these secrets won’t over saturate your server. I was giving these tips away to people I have known for years and not a single problem popped up because of it.

Your server is loaded with gold making methods ‘ thousands of them right now’

Once you have my secrets in hand, it won’t matter if you have a million competitors or three ‘ you’ll be on your way to riches either way.

Shadow Priest Changes for Cataclysm

Mind Spike : Deals Shadowfrost damage and puts a debuff on the target that improves subsequent Mind Spike damage.

The intent of Mind Spike is to fill a niche missing in Shadow DPS, though it may be occasionally useful for healers as well. Mind Spike provides a quick nuke to use in situations where the priest doesn’t have time to set up the normal rotation, such as when adds are dying too fast or you have to swap targets a lot.

Spamming Mind Spike will do about as much damage as casting Mind Flay on a target afflicted with Shadow Word: Pain. The idea behind the debuff is that when you cast Mind Spike, we expect you to cast a lot of them; we don’t intend you to fit it into an already full Shadow rotation.

It also provides Shadow with a spell to cast when locked out of the Shadow school. (School lockouts will no longer affect both schools for multi-school spells.) 1.5-second cast. 30-yard range. No cooldown.

The first Shadow Priest change announced. I know that a lot will change between now and the release of Cataclysm and I really truly hope that it’s the name of this spell. I am willing to pay. Otherwise I’m forever going to be hearing Lord Marrogar saying “stick around!” like some kind of catchy horrifying remix by Mr Voletron.

Also, I don’t think Blizzard took into account that the Shadow Priest abbreviation for Mind Spike “MS” is already taken. Have you ever tried to read an Arcane Mage theory crafting article when 70% of the Arcane spells all abbreviate to “AB”?!

It’s glad that the developers have correctly identified that Shadow Priesting is pretty miserable in instances. Especially when your party brings a truckload of DPS in the form of a Mage or Hunter or Shaman or Paladin or… well you get the picture.

A year ago people would have said “who cares” and that feeling weak in one situation – a dungeon/raid trash – is a fair sacrifice for being so fun to play in other parts of the game. However, if Cataclysm follows the trend set in Wrath of the Lich King we’ll be running the Cataclysm heroics for the entire expansion. And for many players who don’t want to raid, they’ll be spending all their play time in dungeons wondering why their alt Mage still wearing level 80 gear can out-DPS their Shadow Priest.

People don’t really like Blizzard’s solution to the problem here. Partly that’s because Shadow Priests have been promised a new, no cooldown, nuke for Cataclysm. Something that will replace our channeled Mind Flay (with its snare utility) as our go-to spell in Cataclysm. people was really, really, looking forward to replacing the channeled part of our rotation with a direct damage spell that’s not so fussy. No more worry about clipping the spell too soon or being hampered by unpredictable latency. people was worried that Mind Spike will be this new spell. And that we’ll still be Mind Flaying during boss encounters.

People don’t want Shadow Priests, even with our annoyingly long ramp up time, to change into something we’re not: bursty, with front loaded damage and spammy, benefiting from casting one spell over and over again. People feel that Mind Spike will make it easier to play a Shadow Priest without thinking in a dungeon setting. But people don’t think anybody who chooses to play a Shadow Priest should be happy about that.

Perhaps this spell will be the one that makes all the Discipline and Holy Priests out there no longer hate Shadow spec for solo play? If so, they should have called it Mind Smite.

Cataclysm Release Date Speculation

Have you looked on the Warcraft forums recently? If you have you can’t fail to have noticed the amount of interest the next expansion is provoking. Hardly surprising given how good it currently looks.

But let’s forget the details for now, what about the chronology?

Cataclysm is probably a long way off. Blizzard has announced that there will be no major content updates after patch 3.3 The Icecrown Citadel. If you are a player with characters currently doing end game instances this should raise some concerns.

Let’s read that again. “No major content additions between now and Cataclysm”

Looking back over the history of Warcraft updates, it follows a pretty tight pattern. Major additions in the form of “on tenth” increment patches or expansions are released every four to five months. The longest wait so far was between 2.4 and 3.0 (i.e. not including the “one hundredth” increments, they aren’t generally content additions) March 2008 to October 2008. Just over five and a half months.

Looking at Amazon, Wal-Mart, EB, Game etc, I see place holder dates for Cataclysm of “November 2010″ and “Quarter 4 2010″. So the most optimistic of these has the next expansion almost 10 months after the last major patch. The average date is close to a year.

A whole year? I’m enjoying Icecrown as much as anyone. But a year?

I can assure you of one thing, not just progressive raiding guilds, but just about everyone and their donkey will have exhausted the Icecrown well before November 2010. Will we all be sitting twiddling our thumbs with BiS items for all our characters for months waiting for the next content?

What do Blizzard expect us to do in the mean time? Keep paying the subscription then sit back and twiddle our thumbs?

In short, no. Let’s be sensible Blizzard is well aware of the game mechanics and the need for constant progression. It is the absolute lifeblood of Warcraft both as players and for Blizzard financially.

There are two possibilities.

Patch 3.4. Possibly re-envisioning some Troll instances to bring their Lore back up to date. Also giving the Worg a bit of a nudge to get them kick started or…

The Cataclysm expansion will be released in early fall (autumn) no later than September.

Mentioning either of these in Warcraft forums will get you called all the names under the sun. But understand this. Blizzard will not let the game run out of content for high end players (i.e, most players) It just won’t happen. Running out of content would be a financial disaster for Blizzard, and they know this.

Auction House Gold Mine

In Arathi Highlands there is a location called Stromgarde Keep – if you use cosmosui the coordinates are: 26,58. Now, this area is half controlled by the alliance and half controlled by reds that attack on sight. But if you are careful you can avoid the reds.

The entire Arathi Highlands zone is level 30-35 mobs but the keep is level 35+ elite mobs so you want to avoid fighting if you can. Anyway, to make it simple to keep going back here, go to Refuge Pointe at 45,47 on the map. There is a griffon guy there. This point hooks up directly to the griffon master in IronForge where the AH is. So after getting the griffon point established you can fly from Ironforge to refuge pointe and back again.

There are level 30+ mobs in this zone, but the nice thing is, there is a patrol that moves along the road that heads south from refuge pointe and follows the road all the way to Stromgarde Keep. So the road is usually cleared of reds for you. Just keep an eye out for them.

If you are over level 30, you can probably handle it on your own. So, you basically want to take the road south out of refuge pointe and once you hit the road where you can go east or west you want to go west. Follow that road until you get to a road between two lakes. That is Stromgarde Keep and you should see it on your map now. That road will lead you into Stromgarde Keep.

This is the tricky part. People might be fighting the reds in here, so just watch out for their battles. When you first enter the Keep, you are in a courtyard. Hug the wall that is on your right hand side (the west wall), that is the Alliance side of the keep. Now, the very first right that you can make once you enter the courtyard, you take that… you will know you are in the right spot because you will see a bunch of green guards. Basically now, you want to take the road all the way back and then to the right, and follow the walls.

Eventually you will see an opening in the wall with a walkway over the entrance you originally came in. Take that walkway over to the other side, It will still be green. Now once you are across, hang a right and another right. You are looking for the NPC vendor named Deneb Walker.
Tips: Under the name field you can enter MANUAL and click on RECIPE and then click SEARCH. You will then be able to see what your auction price is for these items.
